Jordan Open Source Association in CC Regional Meeting - Tunis

 

Jordan Open Source Association participated in the Creative Commons Regional Meeting in Tunis, Tunisia which took place from June 29 – July 2.

The meeting, which was sponsored by Al Jazeera network and organized by Nawaat, started with a plenary session in the presence of Creative Commons chairman Joichi Ito and Creative Commons Arab regional manager, Donatella Della Ratta.

Several topics were on the meeting's agenda starting from the regional cooperation in the Arab world and how to make it better, ideas and suggestions came from participants. Then, regional projects were discussed including the CC website, CC Iftar, a collaborative Arabic CC-licensed CD and other CC Salons to be held.

Jordan hosted the first CC Salon in the Arab World, and the delegation renewed its will to arrange for a second one in Jordan soon.

Creative Commons Jordan delegation consisted of four members of Jordan Open Source Association, Issa Mahasneh, Eman Jaradat, Bassam Ali and Kanaan Manasrah. The delegation also participated in the redaction of a workplan for preparations to CC Global meeting in September organized in Poland.

The meeting shed light on the Open source projects and collaboration in the Arab region and where do we stand.

Jordan Open Source Association presented as well two workshops, the first about Arabic Open Educational Resources led by Issa Mahasneh and the second led by Eman Jaradat with the collaboration of Darine Sabbagh from Lebanon about the use of Creative Commons and Social Networking to build personal brands.

Jordan Open Source Association and Creative Commons Jordan expressed their interest in the update, renewal and management of the website of Creative Commons Arab World. A joint collaboration between communities in Jordan and Lebanon will also result in the launch of CC Jordan and CC Lebanon websites soon.

It should be mentioned that Jordan Open Source Association is currently working to finalize its relationship agreement with Creative Commons, making it the only CC Affiliate in Jordan.
