Cooperation in Open Source E-Learning between Petra University and University of Jordan

 

A delegation consisting of academic members and software developers from the Jordan University visited the E-Learning Center in Petra University. The delegation headed by Dr. Wisam Mubaydeen met the Petra University's Rector-Assistant for Web Development and Computing, President of the Faculty of Information Technology, Dr. Ghassan Issa, other members of the E-Learning Center and faculty staff.

Dr. Ghassan Issa stressed on some of the achievements of the center and the university's plan to further enhance its operations, after that, he listed different software developed or currently used to create e-learning materials, online examinations, surveys and other applications, all of them are open source.

Jordan University's head of delegation added that all e-learning systems used in their university, the largest in Jordan, are open source, citing specifically Moodle, which is planned to be used for online examinations in the near future.

The two universities are using Open Source to raise the level and quality of E-Learning in the two universities and, generally, in Jordan, sources said. "The two universities seek for more cooperation in e-learning", Petra University's website reported.
