Training Academy for Open Source in Al Al-Bayt University

 

Al Al-Bayt University (AABU) will open a training academy for Open Source software according to president Dr. Nabeel Shawaqfeh in his last meeting with Minister of Information and Communication Technology Marwan Juma.

An official statement of AABU reported that "the university works to establish an academy for Open Source Software training, most importantly Ingres software in coordination with Duroob Information Technology company to meet the needs of the [digital] era".

Minister Juma stressed on the importance of the cooperation between private and public sectors and said that practical programs should be applied on the ground with training companies to add practical knowledge to students. "The ministry seeks to foster a generation of students and young people with excellent skills in Information Technology and to provide the necessary financial and technical support to them", Juma stated in his visit to AABU campus.

AABU is located in Mafraq and provides degrees in Computer Science, CIS and MIS. The university provides courses using Open Source technologies like JAVA and Python, in addition to hosting other sessions about Open Source, Linux and PHP provided by Jordan Open Source Association.
