I was looking around Drupal 7 the other day, and i watched a video on the features in the alpha version, a lot of people were talking about D7 having CCK as a core module, Views, token, image.

This video just cleared a lot and i guess they will have more improvements going on, before D7 will be released for developers.

The best part in another article about the changes in D7 was performance changes, which is highly recommended as a lot of drupal 6 sites were complaining about high page loading time, and lack of speed when the site gets bigger and bigger.

And here is a list of changes in points if you dont want to check the video:

  1. Better media handling
  2. Custom content types in core
  3. WYSIWYG editor
  4. Better performance
  5. Better tools to structure/organize content
  6. Basic Views like module
  7. Automatic upgrade functionality
  8. Improved node access system
  9. Better internal APIs
  10. Better external APIs (import/export, web services)
  11. Usability

Some administrative parts, that may seem not a problem for others, but it is for me, the administration menu on the top is a problem solved now, so helpful and its a beauty when  surfing the navigation menu, i was using “admin menu” module but on D7 i guess thats not needed anymore.

The popup layout for administration is a very nice move, and that all still Alpha, so i guess D7 will be much more fun to work with than previous versions.
