CC Iftar Amman
Being the first Arab country to start porting Creative Commons licenses, Jordan has entered the global debate about finding a balance between the right to intellectual property and the right to access to knowledge. This is happening thanks to the push given by a vibrant local community made up of tech start ups, NGOs and creative industries, in addition to a very pro-active blogosphere.
In partnership with Aramex, The Amman CC Iftar will be a gathering for people who are interested in sharing.
The idea of sharing perfectly matches with the spirit of Ramadan: people share their Iftar meals with families and friends, Muslims share their food with the poor and elder scholars share their religious teachings.
Since sharing matches both with the spirit of Ramadan and with the main idea promoted by Creative Commons we propose to have the Amman CC Iftar under the title of: “Fast-Sharing”.
“Fast” indicates here both the quick collaboration/communication/creativity which is peculiar to the digital age and the religious and ethical values behind the fasting practice during holy Ramadan.
